Green Terrace is a residential building from the ‘90s era. Situated on the fifth floor of this lake side property is the spacious single family apartment, renovated with a touch of casual minimal aura.
The white interior with minimal wooden furniture embraces serenity, simplicity, and a strong connection with nature. The interior design is dominated by clean lines, open spaces, and a palette of soft, neutral tones, creating a calm and airy atmosphere. Large windows invite abundant natural light, enhancing the expansive feeling of the space while offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding lake and nature.
The newly designed furniture were minimalist, focusing on functionality without sacrificing aesthetics. The wooden elements, which are natural oak, add warmth and texture, subtly contrasting the white walls and ceilings. The continuous living and dining spaces were segmented with wooden folding-sliding doors, incorporated with traditional materials like, Sheetal Pati. The folding-sliding doors preserve the one space environment of the living & dining, as is it when fully opened.
This project also involved refurbishing some old furniture to a new look, like a five seat sofa set of foam and fabric with wooden framework; a six seat sofa set of foam, fabric & bamboo; round dining table with rotating center piece; wooden dinner chairs with foam & fabric; bed and closet. Some of the antique furniture was also brought back to their previous glory.
The newly made wooden pieces include a sleek a low-profile coffee table with a smooth finish; a pair of elegant reclining chairs with upholstered seats & footrests; a bed with built-in side table and bed lights; dressing cabinets; pull-out cabinets with lighting; reading table with shelves; dinner wagon; kitchen cabinets, etc. Each piece is designed to be understated, allowing the natural grain of the wood to shine through and complement the light, breezy environment.
Soft, neutral textiles such as cream or beige blackout curtain along with a translucent layer add depth to the interior aesthetics by allowing the residents to choose levels privacy as well as provide comfort without overpowering the minimalist feel. The mosaic floors were cleaned and recut to bring out its original polished lightness, maintaining the overall sense of unity and cohesion throughout the apartment. Open shelving or built-in storage solutions keep clutter hidden, allowing the simplicity of the design to take center stage.
One of the key requirements from the Client was accessibility for wheelchair and trolley bed for one of bedrooms and toilets. Major civil work alterations were carried out for the targeted zone thus ensuring the requisite. The apartment floor finish consisted of white mosaic, yellowed and stained over time. The floor finish was sanded, cleaned, polished and waxed to its originally white look.
